Copenhagen is not just a city with good wine bars — it is a city that has redefined what a wine bar can be. Where other places offer dusty cellars with rigid wine lists and formal service, Copenhagen's wine bar scene is something else entirely: informal spaces, personal selections and a curiosity that makes it easy to walk through the door without knowing exactly what you're looking for. Natural wine has long been central to the scene — but the picture is more nuanced than that. You'll find Italian basement bars dedicated to Piedmont, Scandinavian importers selling directly from their warehouse by the canal, and cosy neighbourhood spots where the price of a glass rarely exceeds what you'd pay for a beer elsewhere in Europe. That is the kind of city Copenhagen has become. Here is our guide to the best of it.

Bar Vitrine
A small wine bar in the heart of Copenhagen with a relaxed atmosphere and a rotating selection of wines. The intimate venue with a glass facade and warm wooden furniture is a distinctive corner building on Møntergade, and the kitchen serves a weekly changing menu inspired by the world. Walk-in only, Tuesday–Saturday from 2pm.
Ved Stranden 10
A cosy wine bar and wine shop by the canal, known for its selection of natural and biodynamic wines. The venue is historic and atmospheric with views of Christiansborg and the old cobbled streets. The staff are knowledgeable and will always help you find the right glass. In summer you can sit outside by the quay — one of the most beautiful spots in the city.

Nebbiolo
A stone's throw from Nyhavn you'll find Nebbiolo — a 230-square-metre basement venue dedicated to Italian wine culture, primarily from the Piedmont region. There's no wine list; you describe what you're in the mood for and the waiter finds the right glass. All wines are served with a little delicious antipasti included in the price. Wines can be purchased to take home, and the venue is open every day of the week from 3pm.
Apéro
A relaxed spot in a 290-year-old red half-timbered house on the corner of Møntergade and Gammel Mønt. Here you can enjoy bar snacks alongside a wide selection of wines and drinks. The menu is inspired by beloved classics from around the world — think chicken and waffles with caviar, bikini toast and oysters. Whether you stop by for a single glass or stay until late in the evening, the atmosphere is always right. Open Monday–Saturday from 11am.

Den Vandrette
A relaxed wine bar near Nyhavn with a carefully considered selection of natural wines and a seasonally changing food menu. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and the food is prepared with quality seasonal ingredients. An intimate spot where you can enjoy a good glass and share simple, delicious dishes with friends. In summer it opens out towards the waterfront.
Rosforth & Rosforth
Hidden under Knippelsbro on Christianshavn — known locally as 'Under the bridge' — Rosforth & Rosforth is a natural wine shop and seasonal bar run by one of Denmark's most established natural wine importers. The selection is unique with wines from biodynamic and natural producers from around the world. In summer, people sit on benches by the canal with a glass in hand — one of the best summer vibes in the city.

Josephine
Josephine is Amagerbro's local wine bar and wine shop combined — situated on Frankrigsgade between Amagerbro and Lergravsparken Metro. A broad and curious wine list meets an informal bodega atmosphere, and prices are sensible. All wines can be purchased to take home. No reservations — you just show up. In 2023 the venue won Best Newcomer List at Star Wine List.
Roots Vinbar
A wine bar, tasting room and wine shop in Østerbro. The philosophy is simple: hand-picked producers from across Europe, no compromises. The selection ranges from natural wine and orange wine to classic European producers. The staff are happy to guide you, and there's always something to taste. Roots also organises exclusive wine tastings and has a wine club for the dedicated.

Rascal
A relaxed natural wine bar and taproom on Frederiksberg, where wines are served on tap as well as by the bottle. Natural wine on tap is a conscious sustainable choice — less packaging and fewer transports. The menu focuses primarily on European wines, and with your glass there is focaccia, cheese and charcuterie. The atmosphere is easy and welcoming. Open Monday–Saturday.
